The system has been developed by Racetech over the past few years and uses specialist metal-backed PCB technology from DK Thermal. With a new custom metal-core PCB in their latest long range spotlight, Racetech have now added to their existing range of LED Motorsport headlights which incorporate multi-chip LED light source, intelligent driver electronics and active temperature management system and are designed to produce maximum track illumination.

Racetech Director John Truman says “The new long range LED spotlight is an exciting addition to our already innovative range of solid state lighting. We were supported professionally and efficiently by DK Thermal and are looking forward to future projects.” DK Thermal Managing Director Andrew Grisbrooke was pleased to support Racetech in their venture “We worked great as a team and are pleased to have been able to contribute to the development of this impressive product. We wish the Sebring and Le Mans teams great success”

Due to recent developments in the opto-semiconductor industry LED intensity, colour temperature and luminous efficacy now supersedes the performance of conventional automotive lighting systems. In addition to this LEDs are solid state components which are able to withstand shock and vibration much better than conventional light sources and have a very long life-span, which explains their use in a number of high-end road cars. With precision manufactured, compact PCBs these headlight modules are produced in a small, neat, light weight package and are being installed for the Le Mans 24 hour race to ensure drivers are equipped to high standards of maximum safety and reliability.

A world first on the Audi Q9: digital OLED panel with a curved design

The new Audi Q9 introduces the automotive industry's first three-dimensionally curved digital OLED panel, enabled by ultra-thin carrier glass (0.1 mm) that allows a bend radius up to 200 mm. Third-generation digital OLED technology comprises 512 segments across six panels, including Audi’s largest OLED panel to date with 99 segments, enabling enhanced lateral visibility, new safety and communication functions, and personalized light signatures (static, active, semi-active) with 3D effects. Combined with digital Matrix LED headlights using micro-LED modules, the system enhances interaction with other road users and advances Audi’s decade-long OLED development.
