The European Lighting Summit 2025

The European Lighting Summit 2025, hosted by LightingEurope, convened industry leaders, policymakers and research institutions in Brussels to foster interaction and collaboration on the critical issues affecting the lighting sector.

Key discussions revolved around enforcing existing EU legislation and enhancing European competitiveness, alongside the challenges posed by non-compliant goods in e-commerce. Further topics included the future of ecodesign and energy labelling, the application of cybersecurity regulations to digital lighting products, and the implications of the upcoming phase-out of PFAS chemicals, with a strong call for targeted exemptions.

The summit also explored the EU’s vision for a competitive circular economy and the need for harmonised rules on Artificial Light at Night (ALAN), emphasising a balanced approach that supports innovation while mitigating environmental impact.
