Luminus Devices, developer and manufacturer of PhlatLight® LEDs, and Avnet Electronics Marketing Asia, part of the global technology distributor Avnet, Inc. (NYSE: AVT), today announced a partnership through which Avnet Electronics Marketing will distribute Luminus PhlatLight LEDs to customers in Asia. EBV Elektronik, an Avnet company, distributes Luminus’ products throughout Europe, the Middle East and Africa. Avnet also represents Luminus in the Americas.

Avnet Electronics Marketing Asia will provide comprehensive distribution services, design-chain services and supply-chain optimization solutions to help Luminus’ customers accelerate product development for a variety of general illumination and specialty lighting applications.

“The demand for our PhlatLight LEDs in Asia is growing exponentially,” said Keith T.S. Ward, CEO, Luminus Devices, Inc. “Avnet Electronics Marketing Asia’s reach and reputation in that part of the world as a specialist in distributing electronic components are exceptional and we’re excited to be aligned with them in serving our customers.”

“LED lighting is totally different from traditional electronic industry products. LED lighting products – especially high brightness LEDs – cover electronics, thermal and optical technologies. This broad expertise requirement can be a barrier to entry. That’s where our design unit, Avnet Design Services comes in, offering manufacturers technical support and solutions that lower the barrier and speed time-to-market,” said Andy Wong, senior director, Avnet Design Service/Segment Marketing, Avnet Electronics Marketing Asia.

“I am confident that our in-depth engineering expertise and broad customer footprint will prove an ideal match with Luminus Devices and promote a successful partnership,” Wong added.
