The UL Certificate reference is File E47820, Vol. 1 and is now posted to the UL website. Eduardo Benmayor, Managing Director at Aismalibar, adds “3D designs with bendable Insulated Metal Substrates are on the cutting edge of technology. Many leading OEMs / CMs are currently utilizing the capabilities of Flextherm to meet their thermal management objectives. We are extremely excited to continue working closely with design engineers to further develop their products.”

Flextherm is ideal for manufacturing conformable Metal Printed Circuit Boards. It can be bent after production while maintaining the initial dielectric strength in between its conductive layers (Al and Cu). The flexible properties of this material enable it to conform to both the positive and negative radii allowing the product to adapt to the demands of increasingly complex MPCB designs.

About Aismalibar:
Aismalibar was one of the first IMS laminate manufacturers in the world and was the first in Europe. Aismalibar is proud to introduce their material to the North American market in 2012. Their product IMS Cobritherm ® is a qualified and recognized Insulated Metal Substrate which gives the best thermal management solutions with high thermal conductivity, low thermal impedance and high dielectric capacity. Aismalibar has implemented a 100% proof test with 1-3KV (High Pot Test) to all IMS laminates coming out of their plant. This is the only way to insure the dialectical strength is perfect and that production challenges are detected before PCBs arrive to the end user.

UK now allows approved LED replacement bulbs in MOT tests

From 14 October 2026, MOT testers must accept ECE approved LED replacement (LEDr) bulbs fitted in compatible halogen headlamp units on class 3, 4, 5 and 7 vehicles. The change does not apply to class 1 and 2 motorcycles, halogen units converted for HID bulbs, or full LED headlamp unit replacements. Approved LEDr products must carry a permanent, secure approval sticker on the vehicle visible during the MOT. Testers need only check the presence and condition of this sticker and must fail the headlamp where the sticker is missing, unreadable, appears tampered with, or does not match the fitted bulb.

IEC 60598-2-24:2026 published — updated requirements for limited-surface-temperature luminaires

The new edition of IEC 60598-2-24:2026 has been officially published. It specifies essential safety requirements for luminaires intended for use where combustible dust or flammable materials are present, necessitating strict control of enclosure surface temperatures to prevent fire or ignition. The revision aligns test methods and construction requirements with recent developments in industrial and specialist lighting and with the latest edition of the general standard CEI EN 60598-1:2024. Publication of the EN and subsequent CEI standard will follow as formal steps, after unanimous positive votes. ASSIL members can contact the Technical Area for clarification.
