Stray Light Correction Improves UV-LED Characterization
Stray Light Correction Improves UV-LED Characterization Instrument Systems is the first industrial supplier for stray light corrected calibrations of array spectrometers to serve the broad market. By including a stray light correction matrix in the calibration process, it is possible to suppress the stray light during the measurement by an order of magnitude down to 10 E-5. A 10% higher sensitivity in the UV range after stray light corrected calibration leads to about 3-4% higher accuracy in the radiometric measurement. The more accurate determination of the radiometric values of UV LEDs facilitates their characterization and development, and supports the various applications of these radiation sources, for example, in the field of coating, curing, disinfection or biomedicine. Instrument Systems LGS 350: Fast Energy Efficiency Tests With a view to future energy-efficient lighting solutions in buildings, Instrument Systems has optimized its LGS 350 goniophotometer system for highly accurate and fast testing of medium-sized LED modules according to the EU Eco-Design Directive. The LGS 350 system features an 85 % increased travel speed of the γ-axis to 34 °/s. The permissible top speed of 0.25 m/s pursuant to CIE S 025 is thus possible for a large number of LED sample sizes. Compared to present measurement solutions, for the user this means greatly increased throughput while maintaining a high standard of measurement precision. With an add-on module of the established SpecWin Pro software, a broad range of ErP tests is available for the preparation of test reports according to the EU Directive. Read more »

Lumileds Shows Lifetime Data For LUXEON 3535L Mid Power LEDs Lumileds has announced breakthrough LM-80 test results for its LUXEON 3535L Mid Power LED line. Completing 10,000 hours of LM-80 testing at 55˚C, 85˚C and 105˚C, Lumileds has exceeded lumen maintenance requirements of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s ENERGY STAR® program, qualification by the DesignLights Consortium™ (DLC), as well as other emerging specifications. Projections based on TM-21-11 show that the devices will maintain 90% of their initial lumen output (L90) for a minimum of 60,000 hours at a 200 mA drive current and Ts temperature of 85˚C. Exceptional lifetimes were extrapolated at all test conditions. This performance means LUXEON 3535L LEDs can operate in an LED fixture for 13 years* while maintaining at least 90% of their initial brightness. Read more »
