Zhaga Announces Several Updates and Reports About Activities in their Latest June Newsletter
June has been a very busy month for Zhaga, with the consortium’s first meeting in China combined with an open session for government officials and representatives from China’s lighting industry. Meanwhile, the first products have now been certified for Zhaga interface specification Books 4, 7 and 8, while Zhaga has signed a liaison with the Global Lighting Association.

Zhaga Publishes Book 7 and Book 8 Interface Specifications for LED Light Engines
Two more interface specifications for LED light engines have been published by the Zhaga Consortium. Zhaga is an international organization that is enabling the interchangeability of LED light sources made by different manufacturers. The interface specifications, designated Book 7 and Book 8, can now be downloaded from the Zhaga website .

The Connected Lighting Alliance Extends Scope to Indoor Professional Lighting
Following its endorsement of ZigBee Light Link as the preferred common open standard for residential connected lighting applications, The Connected Lighting Alliance announced today the launch of a new initiative focused on the indoor professional lighting market. The Alliance will analyze market requirements for indoor professional lighting applications and identify standard development organizations to engage with. As an open association, the Alliance invites interested companies to join the industry initiative and share their expertise in this field. The contribution of multiple companies in the lighting industry will greatly benefit the global adoption of wireless lighting solutions.

EEPCA, the European Electrical Products Certification Association, in cooperation with LightingEurope, today announced the launch of ENEC+, the first pan-European mark capable of certifying the initial performance of traditional and LED luminaires. The new performance rating provides the market with certification as to the compliance of LED light fixtures and other luminaires, proving compliance with European safety standards and ensuring the reliability of their stated performance characteristics at the beginning of their life cycle.

Zhaga Consortium Starts Work on New Specification for COB LED Arrays
In response to feedback from a broad range of stakeholders, the Zhaga Consortium, which develops specifications for interchangeable LED light sources, is now working on a new Book that will include Chip-on-Board (COB) LED arrays. The new Zhaga Book will specify a family of six rectangular or square LED modules with different dimensions.

Zhaga Consortium Publishes Book 9 Specification

Zhaga Book 13 - LED Drivers - for Download, Certified Products Database Improved
The Zhaga Consortium has published a new specification for LED drivers that are used in combination with separate LED modules. The introduction of standardized form-factors for LED drivers is expected to bring significant benefits for LED luminaire makers, including enhanced second-sourcing options and the ability to interchange different LED modules and drivers independently. Furthermore, Zhaga has updated its database of certified products and built a new search engine that allows LED luminaire makers and other users to find and compare components.

ZigBee Alliance and Thread Group Join Force
The ZigBee Alliance, an association of companies creating, maintaining and delivering open, global standards for the low-power wireless Internet of Things (IoT), and the Thread Group, an organization focused on making Thread the foundation for the Internet of Things in the home and beyond, today announced that multiple members of both organizations have demonstrated prototypes that run the ZigBee Alliance’s universal language for smart devices on Thread networks. The demonstrations, shown privately at the Thread Group’s Members Meeting in November and set for public display in both organizations’ booths at CES, are a key milestone in their liaison agreement, and highlight accelerating momentum behind an emerging ecosystem of connected products that will interoperate over Thread IP networks using the widely deployed ZigBee language.

Zhaga Transforms LED Driver Specification with New Book 13 Interface Specification
The Zhaga Consortium, a global association of lighting companies that is standardizing interfaces of components of LED luminaires, has published a significantly updated version of its interface specification for LED drivers. The new specification, designated Book 13 Edition 2.0, reduces complexity in the market by having significantly fewer mechanical form-factors than the earlier version. Overall, Edition 2.0 features only 27 categories, compared with 78 in Edition 1.0.

DALI-2 Certification Launch Brings Improved Interoperability to DALI Lighting-Control Systems
The Digital Illumination Interface Alliance (DiiA), an open, global consortium of lighting companies that promotes the adoption of lighting-control systems using DALI technology, has launched its program for the certification of DALI-2 devices. DALI-2 certification brings the promise of significantly improved interoperability compared with current DALI devices in the market, thanks to comprehensive and detailed testing procedures. For each product, the DALI-2 test results are independently verified by DiiA before certification is granted.

California Energy Alliance Code Change for Lighting Control Requirements Adopted by California Energy Commission
