Lumileds Tailors Luxeon IR Family for Cost Conscious High Power Applications

Lumileds introduced the Luxeon IR 2720 Line, high power emitters that set the standard for abundant radiant power delivered in an industry standard package for seamless integration in existing designs. The emitters provide high radiant power of up to 1,300 mW at 940 nm or 1,250 mW at 850 nm wavelength and feature high efficacy and a popular 120° beam angle. The 2.75x2.0 mm LEDs are undomed and especially useful for applications with package height limitations that prevent the use of domed solutions. For UV-B and UV-C emitters, the measurement of their spectrum between 325 nm down to 200 nm is generally only possible with extended measurement times due to their low radiant flux. As such, a condition for fast testing within production is high reliability in conjunction with high optical throughput of all participating system components. Within its well-established CAS-series of premium spectroradiometers over many years, Instrument Systems has developed a novel series-type CAS 140D-157. This new system measures precisely and reliably not only within the visible spectrum, but also in the UV. Access Fixtures has released a new LED troffer that emits no UV and no light below 450nm. Named FLAT, the troffer was designed for grid ceilings of clean rooms and production facilities that require no UV and no light below 450 nm. Prior to the advent of FLAT, clean rooms and production facilities that required no-UV lighting relied on fluorescent lamps with coatings (gold lamps) or filtered lenses to block out UV wavelengths. Electron Beam Patterning for Full-Color HR OLED Displays

OLED microdisplays are increasingly establishing themselves in consumer-ready wearables and data glasses. In order to meet the requirements for higher efficiency, higher contrast, and higher resolutions in these applications, Fraunhofer FEP scientists have developed a new micropatterning approach for OLEDs on silicon substrates. This might eliminate the use of color filters and shadow masks in the future and allow full-color displays to be developed by means of a new process.
