An Internet Address for Every Light Bulb
An Internet Address for Every Light Bulb What if every light bulb had its own unique Internet IP address? The possibilities are endless: You could monitor, manage and control every light bulb from any Internet-enabled device – turning lights on and off individually, dimming or creating scenes from your smartphone, tablet, PC or TV – to save energy as well as electricity costs. Your “smart lighting” network could have dozens or even hundreds of appliances connected through a wireless network designed for maximum energy savings, communicating information about their environment, about power consumption levels, and alerting you to any problems. Today, NXP Semiconductors (NASDAQ: NXPI) is introducing its GreenChip™ smart lighting solution that makes the Internet-enabled, energy-efficient lighting network a reality – not only for businesses, but also for consumers trying to make the most of energy savings in the home. ELMOS Introduces New Lighting Concepts with Gesture and Motion Control at Light+Building 2012
ELMOS Introduces New Lighting Concepts with Gesture and Motion Control at Light+Building 2012 This is how the lighting concepts of the future will look like: Barely awake, you move your hand in the direction of the lamp. Immediately it lights up dimly. If you move closer to the lamp, its light becomes brighter increasingly. Pulling back your hand will make the light go out again at once. But letting the hand linger for a short time will switch on the light permanently while fixing the desired brightness at the same time. All this is made possible even today by the HALIOS® sensor systems of the company Mechaless, detecting hand gestures most precisely at minimum power consumption. Touchless, without having to search for the switch in the dark. Read more »

Recom Releases Dedicated Triac Dimmer for LED Lighting
Recom Releases Dedicated Triac Dimmer for LED Lighting Modern lighting solutions offer considerably more than just a means to switch luminaires on and off. Continuously adjustable brightness creates atmosphere. Due to the rise of LED lighting, the consumed energy has also decreased. These things continue to pose new challenges to dimmers. While the base load of an incandescent bulb is about 50W or more, dimmers now must also operate with the significantly lower input power of an LED system. Read more »
