cintelliq Finds that OLED Lighting Continues to Gather Momentum
cintelliq limited is pleased to announce the release of their latest market report “OLED Lighting: Products, prices, capacity costs and forecasts 2014 - 2023”. According to cintelliq OLED lighting is expected to become a strong competitor to LED lighting by 2016 one year earlier than previously thought. OLED lighting may have had a gentle start but it is now firmly gaining market traction as an increasing number of OLED panels and luminaires reach the market – with the efficacy and lifetimes of current OLED panels at a performance level to last more than ten years under normal operating conditions they are rapidly becoming an alternative to LED lighting.

Last Month to Apply for the SEAD Lighting Awards Competition
In an ambitious effort to reduce energy use on a global scale, the Clean Energy Ministerial's Super-efficient Equipment and Appliance Deployment (SEAD) Initiative announced a competition to recognize the most energy-efficient lighting around the world. SEAD Global Efficiency Medals will be awarded to the most energy-efficient lamps and luminaires on the market as well as to new technologies that push the boundaries of efficient lighting available today. The last month to apply for the award has begun. Submissions will be accepted until 3 October 2014

Leti and LUCIOM Co-Operate for High-Data-Rate Bidirectional LiFi Transceiver Development
CEA-Leti and LUCIOM, which develops visible-light communication using light-emitting diodes (LEDs), have launched a project to develop high-data-rate LiFi transceivers. With this technology, LUCIOM expects to offer in mid-2015 one of the first high-data-rate bidirectional light-fidelity, or LiFi, products that can work with different LED lighting sources, and on mobile devices.

Investment Group Acquires Bridgelux and Bridgelux Spins Off Xenio for Smart Lighting
Bridgelux, a leading developer and manufacturer of solid state lighting (SSL) technologies, announced it has entered a definitive agreement to be acquired by an investment group led by the China Electronics Corporation (CEC), and ChongQing Linkong Development Investment Company. Established in 1989, CEC controls 61 second-level subsidiaries, including 13 listed holding companies. With over 70,000 employees, CEC is one of the largest IT companies in China. In conjunction with the sale of Bridgelux to the investment group led by CEC, Bridgelux also announced that the Board of Directors has approved a plan to spin off its Smart Lighting LED platform business under the name of Xenio Corporation.

Lumileds and BluGlass Cooperate for Developing Certain RPCVD Enhanced LEDs
Australian technology innovator BluGlass Limited has today announced that it has entered into an exclusive collaboration agreement with Lumileds. Lumileds develops, manufactures and distributes LEDs and automotive lighting products. The two companies will work together to explore potential use of low temperature RPCVD for specific LED applications defined by the agreement. This agreement follows on from the initial collaboration of BluGlass and Lumileds.

“Lighting Europe appreciates last week’s proposal from CoolProducts in relation to halogen lamps,” said Diederik de Stoppelaar, Secretary General of LightingEurope, “but believes that such an important change goes beyond halogen lamps and will have a significant effect on all lighting products.
