From LED Components to Complete LED Systems & Concepts for Intelligent Light
Driving Intelligent Lighting is the Tridonic slogan for Light+Building 2012. The spotlight will therefore be on components and systems for intelligent operating and control solutions. The company will also be demonstrating the many possibilities of digital light management. In addition, Tridonic will be showcasing LED modules together with a range of other components and comprehensive LED system solutions, including converters and lighting controllers. The focus will be on LED products and systems for general illumination applications.
Intelligent Lighting:
At Light+Building Tridonic will be presenting itself as a manufacturer that offers long-term added value with consultancy, service and products from individual components to complete systems. The company continues to build on its extensive know-how in ballast design and has applied this knowledge to the development of LED components and LED systems. It will be showcasing its comprehensive LED product portfolio for general illumination applications. The company extends the product range with LED light sources. Tridonic is also further developing its electronic ballasts and lighting control products. The portfolio is aimed primarily at luminaire manufacturers, architects and planners.
LEDs:
Tridonic offers a perfectly matched portfolio, including LED light sources, corresponding converters and application-specific control systems. Tridonic is a versatile supplier that can offer its customers the right components, from LED light sources to light engines. The strategy is to enable customers to enter into producing LED luminaires and lighting solutions at different stages in the value added chain.
The LED portfolio for general illumination includes LED modules for use in linear and square luminaires and in spotlights and downlights. On show are the TALEXX-LED engines STARK QLE and LLE. Their height of only 6 mm will inspire manufacturers to create stylish low-profile luminaires. The dimensions of the square QLE version (270 x 270 mm) and those of the linear LLE version (35 x 270 mm) are ideal for creating individual configurations. As a market leader in emergency lighting , Tridonic has added integrated emergency lighting functions to these products.
Light management with DALI:
With an intelligent DALI light management system, as demonstrated by Tridonic at Light+Building, in combination with individually addressable and dimmable DALI control gear for lamps and LEDs the potential energy savings are enormous. By networking the system it will be possible to implement projects of virtually any size and number of connected luminaires with a multi-functional lighting control system.
Specifically, with the proDIM intelligent DALI light management system from Tridonic in combination with individually addressable and dimmable DALI control gear such as PCA EXCEL one4all or TALEXXconverter one4all for LEDs, energy savings of up to 80% can be achieved. The heart of the proDIM light management system is the new cluster controller with its four DALI channels and integrated DALI bus supply. With this configuration up to 256 DALI luminaires can be accessed. A DALI expansion unit is also available, raising the number to 500 via an internal bus. A second cluster controller is then not needed. This is an intelligent and cost-effective way of expanding the system.
New generations of electronic control gear:
With its new ECGs, Tridonic continues to demonstrate its expertise in this field by not just maintaining a series of products but by launching a genuine new generation of products.
The new series of dimmable control gear is equipped with numerous additional features and gives luminaire manufacturers and users even more options. With new digital interfaces, sensor functions and memory functions the devices meet all the requirements for dimmable light and open up countless possible applications. There is also clear segmentation, with allows for assignment to the individual requirements. Models in the PCA EXCEL one4all series are so versatile and convenient that they open up new lighting solutions. They provide maximum functionality within the luminaire and when integrated in system solutions. PCA ECO supports all the usual digital communication standard and combines performance with ecological and economical benefits. PCA BASIC stands for simple but efficient applications as an alternative to non-dimmable solutions.
Clearer segmentation is also being introduced for the Tridonic product portfolio of non-dimmable ballasts with the further improved xitec II processor. With the new Fixed Output generation Tridonic has improved the technical properties and therefore the overall efficiency of lighting systems. Tridonic will strengthen its market position with this new generation. The new generation with the PC PRO, PC TOP and PC TEC series will make it easier for luminaire manufacturers to enhance the functionality of fluorescent lamps and luminaires.
Components & Systems:
Tridonic is a versatile supplier that can offer its customers the right components. The LED portfolio is enabling luminaire manufacturers to enter into producing LED luminaires and lighting solutions at different stages in the value added chain. Packages ranging from individual components to modules, from converters to complete systems including lighting control are available. The company offers its products together with its successful and now extended range of services. The solid basis here is the company’s extensive application know-how and excellent consultancy service built up from years of developing and manufacturing ballasts and electronic lighting control systems.
TALEXXengine Stark QLE and LLE for square and linear luminaires:
Tridonic has launched two new LED systems that offer exceptional efficiency and excellent white light quality, namely TALEXXengine Stark QLE and LLE. These square (QLE) and linear (LLE) versions can be used separately or in combination. The LED systems provide luminaire designers with completely new creative possibilities and they can also be used as alternatives to T5, T8 and TCL fluorescent lamps – instantly achieving greater system efficiency.
Both versions have a luminous efficacy of up to 100 lm/W. Dimensions of 270 mm x 270 mm (QLE) and 35 mm x 270 mm (LLE) make these 6 mm thin LED modules ideal for individual lighting solutions. They can be used as single modules, in multiple module arrays or in combinations of both versions – anything is possible. All versions will fit a wide variety of lighting systems, from diffusers to louvre luminaires.
At Light+Building you can see these modules with integrated emergency lighting functionality. In this respect, Tridonic can rely on its know-how as a market leader in emergency lighting systems.
TALEXXengine Stark DLE TWIST:
The TALEXXengine STARK DLE TWIST is the first LED light engine in the Tridonic portfolio with an integrated converter and a holder for luminaire installation mounted on the heat sink. Like conventional light sources, this compact high-efficiency LED unit can be installed without any tools and can just as easily be dismantled. STARK DLE TWIST is ideal as the light source for downlights. The light engine is already equipped for the future because the LED module uses proprietary connection technology for simple replacement. The connection technology complies with the planned standards of the Zhaga Consortium which aims to ensure compatibility between different LED products.
Converters for every occasion:
At the heart of every LED lighting solution are the TALEXXconverters, developed and manufactured by Tridonic with all the expertise that made the company famous for its ballasts. High efficiency and low power losses are the main features. The extensive product range includes devices for indoor and outdoor applications (type of protection IP67), luminaire installation and separate mounting.
For demanding applications such as linear and square luminaires there are devices with an output of 80 W. The dimmable TALEXXconverter LCAI 80W one4all version, which is available with a constant current of 350 or 700 mA, has the versatile one4all interface. This means that LED products can be controlled via DALI, DSI or switchDIM signals and the corridorFUNCTION to minimise energy consumption. The non-dimmable TALEXXconverter LCI 80W with a constant current of 350 mA is just as impressive. Both versions for luminaire installation are housed in a space-saving low-profile enclosure measuring only 21 x 30 mm. They are suitable for emergency lighting applications in accordance with EN 50172.
The compact TALEXXconverter LCCI 16W and TALEXXconverter LCAI 16W one4all build-in units are used in downlights and spotlights. The versions with constant currents of 350, 500 and 700 mA cover all standard applications.
More and more streets, parks, paths, public squares and façades are being illuminated with LEDs. Tridonic has equipped the new TALEXXconverters LCAI 2x38 W and 2x50 W one4all with all the properties needed to provide efficient LED light in outdoor applications. They have integrated overtemperature and overload protection and automatically disconnect in the event of a short-circuit. Restarts are then also automatic. The brightness level can be controlled centrally or automatically via the chronoSTEP function.
