Everlight signed a non-exclusive cross-license agreement with OSRAM GmbH (“OSRAM”), providing the companies (including wholly-owned affiliates) with access in certain areas to each other’s patented LED technology.

Seoul Semiconductor Co., Ltd. (“Seoul”) announced that the companies manufacturing or packaging blue, green, white or UV light emitting devices made from the semiconductor indium gallium nitride may be subject to patents owned by Seoul. These patents include U.S. Patent No. 5,075,742, which was the subject of a recent ruling issued by the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Texas. The ruling supports Seoul's view that the patent is fundamental to indium gallium nitride-based light emitting device technology.

Showa Denko K.K. (SDK) has concluded a cross-license agreement with Toyoda Gosei Co., Ltd. (Toyoda Gosei) concerning patents for LED chips consisting of nitride-based compound semiconductors.

Seoul Semiconductor Co., Ltd. and Nichia Corporation announced that they have settled all litigations on patent and other issues as well as other legal disputes ("Litigations") currently pending between them in the United States, Germany, Japan, United Kingdom, and Korea.

Sharp Corporation (head office: Osaka City, Osaka Prefecture; President: Mikio Katayama; below, “Sharp”) and Nichia Corporation (head office: Anan City, Tokushima Prefecture; President: Eiji Ogawa; below, “Nichia”) have entered into a patent cross-licensing agreement covering LEDs (light-emitting diodes) and laser diodes.

Seoul enters into a cross license agreement with TOE Europe and its patent partners. Based on this agreement, Seoul enhances its flexibility in manufacturing LEDs.

Seoul Semiconductor Co. Ltd. ("Seoul Semiconductor") announced that the United States Court for the Central District of California rendered a judgment  denying all the claims of Nichia Corporation and Nichia America Corporation ("Nichia") in a lawsuit that Nichia filed against Seoul Semiconductor under the Lanham Act and California state law:
